The need for speed

I told you about web hosting a while ago, one thing I didn’t talk about back then is speed. I just witnessed first hand how important the speed of your website is. A few of weeks ago I acquired a domain name and an existing website. Since the website was looking quite nice and working perfectly I didn’t spend any time on improving it. The site came with hosting payed for another couple of months so I was in no hurry to move it to my regular webhosting service at Moduhost.
While checking on the traffic logs a few days ago I decided to move the site over because it is a little bit easier to check the logs of the sites hosted on my reseller account: logging on as the reseller enables me to check all the site stats without the need to log on to each websites account.
I had noticed that the other host was quite a bit slower than I was used to with all my other sites, but I didn’t think much of it. If I had known what I know now I had moved the site over the day that I acquired it. After the move I’ve seen quite an increase in my traffic statistics, visitors stay longer and view more pages. I guess they used to just leave the site because it was too slow. The increase I see in my traffic can also be seen in the adsense income for the site! So if your looking into getting your website hosted somewhere, be sure to check the speed of the host: ask for some sites that are hosted on the same server and see if they load in a reasonable time!

p.s. a little update on the submitted article (the search engine count on it)
about 2 weeks have passed since submitting the article, the search for a phrase from my article gets the following number of hits:
Google: 23
MSN: 23
Yahoo: 1
Google-bot has now found the same number of copies of my article as the MSN-spider, I have no idea whats taking Yahoo so long…
Theres still quite some article sites on Publish-Your-Article.com that I didn’t submit my article to, I might visit some of these sites soon to get my article published to some more sites.

Interesting topic… I’m working in this industry myself and I don’t agree about this in 100%, but I added your page to my bookmarks and hope to see more interesting articles in the future…
